Preparing for Design

Once you've selected us as your website developer, we will meet with you, via telephone or in person, to obtain more detailed information about your business needs as it relates to your website. This information will be used to refine the project estimate and develop the project schedule.

Define the Website's Purpose

To prepare for the Website Design Process you should have a basic idea of what you want the website to do. Ask yourself:

  • What is the purpose of this website?
  • What do I want visitors to DO as a result of visiting my website?
  • What do I want visitors to KNOW as a result of visiting my website?

Prepare an Outline of your Website

It's helpful to write an outline of what you want to include as part of your website. This outline can help you think through, in a more structured way, what it is that you want to say to your customers and what it is you want them to do. This outline will become the basis for developing the content for the website.

Gather Website Examples

When deciding on your website’s look and feel, it’s always helpful to look at examples of other sites you particularly like. Rest assured, your site will be uniquely yours but if there are aspects of other sites you really like (or dislike), this information is helpful in designing your site to be sure it looks and feels just the way you want it.

Simply Bookmark (or add to your Favorites) those sites you find you like (or dislike) and we can visit them together to discuss what it is you like (or dislike) before designing your site.

Provide Artwork

If we are not developing your logo and color scheme, you should provide us with any existing artwork used for business cards, logo, brochures or other marketing materials. We will use the artwork, as appropriate, in the website's design so that it will have a look that is consistent with your existing marketing products.
