Budgeting for Success

We know that a website can be a significant cost to consider but a business without a professionally designed website is choosing to leave business at the door instead of welcoming all to enter.

It’s true, these days you can pretty easily find an online website service that can provide you with easy-to-use tools to create a simple website yourself.  If you’re inclined to take that approach, you may be happy with the results but you also may find you are not able to create a website that truly reflects your business because of the inherent limitations of those tools.  You’re also committing to spending hours learning these tools, when your time (and your staff’s time!) could be better spent serving customers.

Working with Christi made creating our new site easy. Putting together a new website can be a daunting task and she helped walk us through the steps, giving guidance and expertise all along the way. We are thankful for her knowledge, workability and willingness to continue to provide support throughout the process!  www.safeplaceolympia.org

So what is it going to cost?

Because every website has its own unique requirements, we prefer to work with you to understand the scope of your project and provide you with a more relevant and accurate project estimate based on the information you’ve provided to us.

However, we know, for budgeting purposes, it can be helpful to have a general range of pricing in order for you to determine overall costs for your project.

With that in mind, you can expect to pay between $500 to $2500 for your small to medium website depending on the complexity and required functionality.

More complex websites may include third party products to provide a fully functional content management system, shopping cart, ticket sales, and more.  Many of these tools will be free but they often required more time to setup and configure.

Other Cost Considerations

The domain name is you website’s address on the world wide web.  Without a domain name, your customers would have to know your IP address (e.g., http://111.22.33.44) to find you.  That’s not very friendly so you’ll need to purchase a domain name that uniquely identifies your business and your website on the web (e.g., www.yourbusinessname.com)

Domain Name Registration

Domain names can be $0-35/year or more.  We can help you find the best domain name registrar for your needs.

Website Hosting

Web hosting can be free or can range from $5-100/month or more depending on the complexity of your website.

Third Party  Software and Services

This can include shopping cart software, merchant service accounts for accepting credit cards online, blogging software, ticket sales fees, stock photos, Content Management System (CMS) templates and extensions, and more. Some of these services can be free but there may be additional costs associated depending on your business needs.

Internet Connection

You most likely have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Internet access but this is a cost to consider which can be $20-50/month or more.

Website Maintenance Costs

Good websites are constantly updated to attract new and repeat visitors. Maintenance costs are generally small, compared to the initial website design and development costs but maintenance should be factored in to your budget considerations for this project. Maintenance costs can be as little as $75-250/mo. or more depending on your particular needs.

Beau Designs, aka Christi McGinley, has proved to be an organization with imagination, creative flexibility, and enormous responsiveness. My organization has found great support as we fumbled towards our goal: a website that would convey our message in a compelling fashion. It is working because Christi has a deep well of experience to draw upon, and because she listens carefully. She is generous with her time….and economical.  www.nargislibrary.org
