Maureen Hart has the qualities that we demand on our Supreme Court.  She has unmatched experience, a strong sense of ethics, and an unwavering belief in fairness for all citizens.

She has practiced law for 26 years and has served under three Attorneys General.  Maureen has presented major cases before the nation's highest courts on important issues affecting women, children, consumers, and public safety.

Maureen Hart is exactly the type of person we need on the Court.  She is active in her community and supports many charitable organizations.  We can count on Maureen to represent us with integrity, excellence, and independence on the State Supreme Court.

Integrity

Maureen Hart has distinguished herself as a woman of the highest integrity.  She served as counsel to the Commission on Ethics in Government and Campaign Practices helping to ensure the highest standards from our public officials.  She worked to eliminate waste and abuse as the chief counsel to the State Auditor.  And, as Chair of the Washington State Bar Association Committee on Professional Conduct, she is helping to promote ethical conduct in the legal profession.

Excellence

Maureen Hart recently received the Washington State Bar Association's highest honor for her role before the United States Supreme Court to preserve and safeguard the basic civil rights of Washington's poor.  Her awards and honors include the Bar Association's Award of Merit in 2003, the Government Lawyers Bar Association Lawyer of the Year for 2003, and National Association of Attorneys General U.S. Supreme Court Fellow in 1999.

Independence

Maureen Hart is committed to serving all citizens.  She successfully defended Washington's landmark law regarding the commitment of sexually violent predators before the United States Supreme Court.  In the Washington State Supreme Court, Maureen fought for the Equal Opportunity Grant Program enacted by the Legislature to help needy "place bound" students.  Recently, she successfully preserved Initiative 773 enacted by the people to provide health care programs for our citizens.
