Maureen
Hart has the qualities that we demand on our Supreme Court. She
has unmatched experience, a strong sense of ethics, and an unwavering
belief in fairness for all citizens.
She has practiced law for 26 years and has served under three Attorneys
General. Maureen has presented major cases before the nation's
highest courts on important issues affecting women, children, consumers,
and public safety.
Maureen Hart is exactly the type of person we need on the Court. She

Integrity
Maureen Hart has distinguished herself as a woman of the highest
integrity. She
served as counsel to the Commission on Ethics in Government and Campaign
Practices helping to ensure the highest standards from our public officials. She
worked to eliminate waste and abuse as the chief counsel to the State
Auditor. And, as Chair of the Washington State Bar Association
Committee on Professional Conduct, she is helping to promote ethical
conduct in the legal profession.
Excellence
Maureen Hart recently received the Washington State Bar Association's
highest honor for her role before the United States Supreme Court to
preserve and safeguard the basic civil rights of Washington's poor. Her
awards and honors include the Bar Association's Award of Merit in 2003,
the Government Lawyers Bar Association Lawyer of the Year for 2003, and
National Association of Attorneys General U.S. Supreme Court Fellow in
1999.
Independence
Maureen Hart is committed to serving all citizens. She successfully
defended Washington's landmark law regarding the commitment of sexually
violent predators before the United States Supreme Court. In the
Washington State Supreme Court, Maureen fought for the Equal Opportunity
Grant Program enacted by the Legislature to help needy "place bound" students. Recently,
she successfully preserved Initiative 773 enacted by the people to provide
health care programs for our citizens.
