Welcome to my website! I hope you find something interesting here. Just to "break the ice", I'll tell you a little something about myself.

I come from a family of creative and accomplished "traditional" artists whose medium are typically canvas, oil paint, graphite, watercolor, pen and ink and more. After years of observing them I have a great appreciation for the creative process that I believe will be helpful in the realm of website design.

My technology career began with computer programming on large mainframe systems. I gradually moved into project management and ultimately into consulting. I eventually left that career to "follow my bliss" which led me to pursue other interests. One of those interests is website development. My style tends toward simple, uncluttered and straightforward. I use very little if any animation and flashy graphics because I think these distract from the message the website is trying to convey.

If you're considering a website for yourself or your business, I hope you'll consider my services.

Because every website has unique design and content requirements, package prices rarely meet the needs of either party. Consequently, I prefer to discuss with you your website needs and then agree upon a price.

However, it is helpful to know approximately how much you can expect to pay for your particular website. I have included the price guide below to give you an idea about approximately what you can expect for a minimum price. I've also included some information about "hidden" costs.

Most starter websites can be completed for around $1000.00. This price includes:

Note: This pricing information is intended to be a guide to help you determine approximate cost. Final cost will depend on size and scope of your unique website.

Hidden Costs

If you decide you want to venture into the internet world with your own website, there can be many “hidden” costs besides the cost for the actual design and development. Here are a few them:

Domain Name Registration

www.yourdomain.com can be $15-35/year.

Web Hosting

Can be free but could be $25-100/month or more depending on the complexity of your website.

Site Tools

These can range from counters and other site statistical software to shopping cart tools and more. The price for these varies depending on the complexity.

Your Internet Connection

You may already have your own Internet Service Provider (ISP) and Internet access but this is a cost to consider which can be $20-50/month or more.

Website Maintenance Costs

Good websites are constantly updated to attract new and repeat visitors. Maintenance costs are generally small, compared to the initial design and development, but nonetheless, it is an on-going cost you should consider. Maintenance fees can be as little as $25-250/year or more depending on your particular needs.

When considering your first website, it's a good idea to start small and slowly work into a more robust site. As time goes on, you will naturally see new things you want to do with the website. For this reason and others, it is better to develop the website in small steps rather than to tackle the task all at once.

Animated Graphics

Animated graphics and other moving objects may catch the attention of a visitor to your site, but it’s more likely these flashy images will annoy the visitor and make their experience less enjoyable. That’s why it’s best to limit animated or flashy graphics unless they are absolutely necessary in order to convey information.

Gather Examples

When deciding on your website’s look and feel, it’s always helpful to look at examples of other sites you particularly like. Rest assured, your site will be uniquely yours but if there are aspects of other sites you really like (or dislike), this information is helpful in designing your site to be sure it looks and feels just the way you want it. When visiting other sites, Bookmark (or add to your Favorites) those sites you find you like (or dislike) and we can visit them together to discuss what it is you like (or dislike) before designing your site.
